A Road Trip

In February we took a little road trip to Talcahuano and on up to Tumbes. They had this great exercise park in Talcahuano that looked out over the ocean. The view was beautiful.
We had fun watching the birds along the coast.
View of Tumbes from the road.
You could just see small fishing boats in the harbor at Tumbes.
This fisherman was cleaning and filleting his catch of the day. People were standing in line to buy fresh fish from him.
Tumbes is a little town at the end of the road. You can go no further on this road, if you keep going straight, you go straight into the ocean. If you try to go left or south you go straight up a mountain. So you just go back the same way you came.
One of the several fish stands.
At the end of the road.
One of the ways they make their living is by drying seaweed. The seaweed is then sold to companies to be put in shampoos and beauty products. It doesn't seem to matter that people and dogs run or walk through it or that sometimes a car will back over it. Kind of crazy!
One of the neighborhoods in Tumbes.
Fishermen washing their boat.
Fish is drying on the clothesline. After it is dried they sell it at the market.
Leaving Tumbes.
Another picture leaving Tumbes.
Horse drawn cannon on our way back from Tumbes.
A load of firewood.
Overlooking Talcahuano.
Red-neck roses, the best kind!
We even found a yard sale, who would have thought?
It made me feel right at home.
